No Damage for Gulf Shores/Orange Beach

Other than putting a damper on the holiday weekend, we are happy to report that Gulf Shores and Orange Beach were spared damage from Hurricane Gustav. We had some rain squalls on and off Monday, but that was about the worst of it.

Businesses are open as usual.

We do ask visitors and residents to pay attention to the beach warning flags posted on all public beaches. The flags are there to alert beachgoers to surf conditions. Gustav is likely to cause dangerous rip currents and swimming conditions along our beaches throughout the week.

Some roads in low-lying areas have water up to and over them. Extreme caution should be used when approaching these areas and you should never attempt to drive through standing water. Alabama HWY 180 from Fort Morgan to mile marker 3 is OPEN.
